The Importance of +7 Degrees Celsius

7 degrees Celsius is an important temperature to remember. The reason is that all-season tires begin to lose their grip once temperatures drop below 7 degrees Celsius.

All-seasons are useless for any temperature below –10 degrees Celsius. Summer tires turn as hard as hockey pucks in the winter, and winter tires start losing grip as temperatures climb.*

Consider the Braking Distance

Not only do regular tires harden in the cold weather, but they also have longer braking distances. When it starts to get a lot colder and more slippery, it can take your vehicle up to 50.7 metres to stop completely in a sub-compact vehicle, up to 51.1 metres in a minivan, and up to 42.8 metres in 4-wheel drive.

Safety First!

Winter tires can help reduce braking distances by almost 25% than the average distance in regular tires. This not only protects your vehicle, but also protects you and other drivers and passengers when you need to brake quickly and efficiently.

In order to keep yourself safe on the roads this winter, we recommend that you install four Winter tires in low and snowy temperatures. Find your Winter tire package for your vehicle here and call to set up your appointment at 647 748 8473.

Four Tires Are Better Than Two!

Everyone says that three’s a crowd, but what about four? When it comes to winter tires, having all four tires is best.

You should consider installing four winter tires on your vehicle rather than just two. The price for four tires may be daunting, but when it comes to the safety of yourself, your passengers, and other people on the road, the purchase becomes a smart investment.

There are some reasons why the Tire and Rubber Association of Canada strongly suggest that drivers install four winter tires instead of two. Here is some helpful information.*

Two winter tires on the front only:

Installing two winter tires on the front axle only will increase grip in the front, leading to a false sense of confidence and decrease grip in the rear, causing oversteer.*

WARNING – Never install only two winter tires on the front of a vehicle. It is dangerous and could result in loss of control of the vehicle.*

Two tires on the rear only:

Installing two winter tires on the rear axle only will increase grip in the rear, but ay surprise a driver with decreased grip in the front, causing understeer.*

CAUTION – Installing only two winter tires on the rear of a vehicle will lead to unwanted and surprising handling characteristics of the vehicle.*

When the rear of the vehicle loses traction in a cornering situation, you go off the road backward. When the front of the vehicle loses traction in a cornering situation, you go off the road forward.*

In summary, it is important to consider purchasing four winter tires rather than two. It is important for your safety and the safety of other people on the road. Visit our Winter Tire Packages page to find tires for your vehicle: limitlesstire.com

The Benefits of Winter Tires

OCTOBER 23RD 2018

The winter weather predictions for the 2018-2019 seasons are cold and more snowy than normal. If you are looking to get the best and safest driving experience this winter, then purchasing a set of winter tires is the solution for you.

The Benefits

As we all know, the winter weather in Ontario can be unpredictable. Some days it can be bitter cold with no snow to be seen anywhere, while some days the snow comes down for hours and stays put.

During the days when there is no snow on the ground, winter tires still protect you and your vehicle. The rubber on all-season tires will stiffen and not perform to their best ability, and can damage the tires due to the cold temperatures. Winter tires, however, maintain their elasticity in extremely low temperatures, such as –35 degrees Celsius or below.* winter tires have a strong grip and better traction, and they won’t stiffen once the temperature becomes bitter.

Think Smart!

The smart thing to do to prevent your all season from potentially damaging due to Winter wear and tear is to purchase Winter tires. Winter tires will perform better not only in just snowy conditions, but also cold, dry, and bitter temperatures, too. Winter is the time to adapt to the road conditions and drive safely!

Winter tires can be added to your vehicle purchase at Ontario Motor Sales, financed, and the first storage and alignment is on us! Check out the best tire packages for you, here: https://limitlesstire.com

Things to Consider When Purchasing Winter Tires

It’s getting closer to that time of year again; Winter is coming.

The best way to prepare is to do yourself and everyone around you a favour by purchasing winter tires. The thought of purchasing another set of tires may not be ideal, but you will keep the others on the road, and most importantly yourself, safe by being ready for the icy and snowy road conditions.

Considerations

You should always consider your driving needs when choosing winter tires.* For instance, you should consider the times of the day you drive your vehicle, the roads you drive (whether they are main roads or side streets), if you drive your vehicle every day no matter the road conditions and weather, and the temperature and weather in the wintertime where you live.* Snow isn’t the only reason to switch over your tires. Temperature is a huge factor. Once it hits 7 degrees Celsius or below, it’s time to make the switch as cold temperatures can cause damage to all-season tires.

All of the above considerations are important. Also, keep in mind that Transport Canada recommends you install winter tires on your vehicle each year.*
